Smok Novo vs. Smok Novo 2

Before we get into the troubleshooting solutions, we’ll tell you a bit about the key differences between the Smok Novo and Smok Novo 2.

The Smok Novo 2 proves that Smok worked hard to make an irresistible upgraded device from the first gen. There are so many things to love about the upgraded Smok Novo 2, especially if you want a good and simple pod system that’s flexible and full of power.

Here are the main differences between the first gen Novo and the Smok Novo 2:

  • The Smok Novo 2 has a newly designed airflow channel which gives you the chance to experience a superior vape experience. Not to mention, the vapour production and flavour improvement.
  • Smok Novo 2 pod compartments come with inlaid grooves that help protect the puff sensors. So if there’s condensation under your pod, it gets stuck in the groove so it’s easy to clean up!
  • The Smok Novo 2 has a “miniature” chipset and mainboard, making room for a bigger battery. The first gen Smok Novo had a 450 mAh capacity, but the Novo 2 has a 800 mAh battery.
  • The Novo 2 has its very own selection of pods, but is also compatible with with first gen pods.
  • The maximum power delivery of the Smok Novo 2 is higher than the first gen. The first gen goes up to 16 watts while the Smok Novo 2 has a max output of 25 watts.
  • The Smok Novo 2 has a one-year manufacturer warranty.

Now that you’re up to date with the differences in the two generations, we can move on to troubleshooting problems! Read on.

How to Fill E-Liquid in Smok Novo 2

Filling e-liquid into your Smok Novo 2 is pretty simple. All you have to do is take the pod out of the device and hold it in such a way that the rubber stopper is facing upwards. Then, open the stopper with your finger and pour in e-liquid till the pod is almost full. Don’t over-fill as this leads to leakage. Leave a small amount of room at the top, and then put the stopper back in. Wait a few minutes before you start vaping, to make sure that the wick is fully wet.

Smok Novo 2 Pods Burning Out Fast?

If you notice your device’s pods are burning out very fast, the first thing to examine is the choice of e-liquid you’re using. If you’re using a vape juice that is very sweetened, you run the risk of reducing the coil’s life. This is due to sucrose in the e-liquid leaving residue on the coil. You should also ensure the coils are always wet. Try not to vape very quickly as well, wait a couple seconds between hits, there’s no rush. If you’ve just filled your pod, don’t start vaping as soon as you’re done. You need to wait a while to make sure your device’s wick is fully wet before vaping.

Device Not Hitting?

More often than not, the cause for your Smok Novo 2 not hitting is the fact that the battery isn’t charged enough. Plug in your batter to its charging cable and let it charge completely before trying to hit the device again.

If you know for sure the battery isn’t dead, take the pod out to check if any e-liquid has spilled at the top. If it has, wipe it off with a paper towel. If the problem persists, switch out the pod and try again.

Device Not Charging?

If your device isn’t charging, there could be a connection issue. Make sure there no dust, pocket lint, or any other contaminants in the charging port. If there is, clean it out with a toothpick. If this doesn’t help, it could be an issue with the cable itself. Try using a different one / a different USB port. Do NOT try to charge your device with a wall adapter for a tablet/phone. This could damage your device.

Smok Novo 2 Gurgling?

If there’s a gurgling sound coming from your device, you’re probably using too much pressure while puffing. When you use too much air pressure while taking a hit, it takes up extra e-liquid into the atomizer and airflow chimney. This reduces vapour production and causes a gurgling sound.
Be gentle while vaping. This will prevent gurgling sounds. If you want more cloud production, use a higher output pod on your device.

Clear out the extra liquid from the airflow chimney when the pod is empty. Blow through the mouthpiece while keeping a paper town on the pod’s bottom to absorb the excess vape juice.

Smok Novo 2 Leaking?

Another reason to keep your drags gentle is the fact that the extra e-liquid in the chimney can eventually cause a leak from the pod’s bottom. If you notice your Smok Novo 2 device leaking, gently clean the inside of it with a paper towel.

To avoid leaks from your device, don’t overfill the pod. Leave a little air-room at the top while filling the e-liquid. If you don’t do this, the moment you put the rubber stopper back in, it’ll force the vape juice into the atomizer assembly. This extra liquid will lead through the pod’s airflow vents.
